Drayton Reservoir, lake in the United Kingdom
Drayton Reservoir is a water storage facility near Daventry covering about 25 acres with wooden pathways and fishing platforms along its banks. It is managed by Canal and River Trust and serves as a feeder for the nearby Grand Union Canal to help maintain water flow.
It was constructed to supply water for local areas and has served as part of the canal system for many decades. Management transferred from British Waterways to Canal and River Trust, which now oversees maintenance and monitors fish stocks.
The reservoir has become deeply rooted in the local angling community, drawing fishermen from across the region. The paths and fishing spots along the water create a gathering place where visitors come to connect with nature and each other.
Access is from the A361 with limited parking at the dam wall and basic facilities on site. Visitors should note that wooden pathways are available for walking, but the area is near residential neighborhoods so quiet behavior is expected.
In the early 1990s the water was stocked with carp that have grown over time to impressive sizes between 14 and 18 pounds, with some exceeding 20 pounds. The record catch stands at over 35 pounds, drawing serious anglers seeking a real challenge.
