Dùn an Achaidh, Ancient dun in Coll, Scotland

The fortification spans 32 meters from northeast to southwest, with walls that were originally 2.5 meters thick, situated on a rocky ridge.

Archaeological excavations at the site revealed decorated pottery, a slate whorl, and a stone pounder, now preserved at the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland.

Local traditions connect the fortification to Norse history, attributing its construction to the son of Olaf, a king of Norway during ancient times.

The structure stands 350 meters southwest of Acha Mill, with coordinates NM 1833 5456, making it accessible for visitors exploring the island of Coll.

The entrance features a distinctive gap in the wall debris at the northeast side, leading to another wall that protected the approach.
