East End Park, Public park in east Leeds, England.
East End Park is a public green space in eastern Leeds, England, with grass areas, wooded sections, and facilities for sport and play. Tennis courts, a crown green bowling area, football pitches, and a multi-use games area are all available on site.
The land once belonged to Osmondthorpe Hall and was acquired by Leeds City Council in 1886 to be opened to the public. What had been a private estate gradually became a shared outdoor space for the surrounding neighborhoods.
Each year, a large bonfire event draws crowds from across the area and has become one of the most attended community gatherings in eastern Leeds. This kind of event shows how the park functions as a shared space where neighbors come together beyond everyday sport and leisure.
The park is easy to reach on foot or by bicycle, and clear paths run between the different areas and facilities. Weather in Leeds can change quickly, so bringing a layer or a light waterproof is a good idea for any outdoor visit.
Since 2009, a joint tree planting effort by Trees for Cities and Leeds City Council has added a large number of trees specifically to reduce noise from nearby railway lines. This planting has also changed the look of the park noticeably, making some sections feel more like a small wood than an open recreation ground.
