Dudley Castle, Medieval castle in Dudley, England
The remains of Dudley Castle stand on a limestone hill, featuring a Norman motte, thirteenth-century keep, and Tudor residential buildings.
Ansculf de Picquigny constructed the initial wooden fortification in 1070, which was later rebuilt in stone during the twelfth century.
The castle grounds host regular historical reenactments, falconry displays, and educational programs about medieval life in the West Midlands.
Visitors can access the castle ruins through Dudley Zoo entrance, with regular bus services stopping at Castle Hill station.
The Sharington Range, built in 1540, represents one of the earliest examples of Italian Renaissance architecture in central England.
