Duke's Head Hotel, King's Lynn, Grade II listed hotel in Tuesday Market Place, King's Lynn, England.
Duke's Head Hotel is a listed building with a powder-blue Georgian facade and 81 rooms spread across multiple floors in the center of King's Lynn. The structure occupies a prominent position at Tuesday Market Place and offers four event spaces for different occasions.
The building was completed in 1683 for Sir John Turner, a Member of Parliament, and designed by Henry Bell, an architect who shaped many buildings in Norfolk. Before its conversion to a hotel, the building carried the name Griffin Inn.
The rooms reflect Georgian design elements that continue to host weddings, conferences, and local gatherings today. The ballrooms preserve their original elegance and serve the community as spaces for celebrations and important meetings.
The hotel is located about 1 kilometer from King's Lynn railway station and sits centrally in town, making it easy to reach pedestrian areas and local attractions on foot. A 24-hour reception is available, and the spaces can be rented for events with up to 150 people.
Local legends speak of a red lady and a maid reportedly executed for poisoning her mistress, whose ghost is said to haunt the building. These darker stories are tied to the site's former identity as Griffin Inn and remain part of the town's folklore today.
