Duke of York's Headquarters, Military barracks in Chelsea, England
The Duke of York's Headquarters spans an extensive complex with symmetrical wings, classical architecture, and a central courtyard at King's Road in Chelsea.
Built in 1801 by architect John Sanders, this Grade II* listed building initially served as the Royal Military Asylum for children of soldiers' widows.
The building transformed into Duke of York Square, incorporating the Saatchi Gallery, which presents international contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year.
The site houses multiple retail establishments, restaurants with outdoor seating areas, and hosts a weekly fine food market every Saturday.
During World War II, the barracks conducted trials for German spies, including Josef Jakobs and Theodore Schurch after their capture.
