Felsted School, Independent boarding school in Felsted, England
This institution in Essex accepts pupils aged 4 to 18 and combines older buildings with newer facilities for teaching. The campus covers an area of approximately 90 acres (36 hectares) and is surrounded by open land that keeps the rural character of the site.
The school was founded in 1564 by Richard Rich, a politician who had acquired land and wealth from the dissolution of monasteries under Henry VIII. The foundation came during a period when many new schools in England were established using funds from former church properties.
The school operates under the motto 'Garde Ta Foy' and maintains membership in the Headmasters' Conference while offering International Baccalaureate programs.
Visitors can enter the grounds during events or by prior arrangement, with the main entrance clearly marked. Buildings spread across the entire site, and walking around gives a good sense of the layout.
During World War II the entire school moved to Herefordshire to protect pupils from bombing raids in southern England. The return to Essex took place only after the war ended, when buildings could be safely used again.
