Southwark Towers, Office skyscraper in Southwark, England
Southwark Towers was a modern office building with 25 floors located at London Bridge Street in Southwark. The structure featured three separate wings and provided extensive workspace close to London Bridge station.
The building was completed in 1976 based on a design by Thomas Bennett and served as the London headquarters for Price Waterhouse. It remained in use until its demolition in 2008.
The building represented the modernist architectural movement in London during the late twentieth century, marking a period of vertical expansion in the city.
The site was located directly at the major transport hub of London Bridge and was therefore easily accessible. Its proximity to other office buildings and the Underground made it a key location in the business district.
The demolition process required careful deconstruction methods instead of standard implosion, as Guy's Hospital stood directly nearby. This cautious approach protected the neighbouring hospital from potential damage.
