Gaddesby Hall

Gaddesby Hall, house in Gaddesby, Melton, England, UK

Gaddesby Hall is a house built in the late 1740s in the village of Gaddesby in Leicestershire. The red brick building spans three floors and underwent extensions in 1868.

The estate originated from Paske Hall dating to 1398, which was demolished in 1744. The current building was constructed by local sheriff John Ayre and later passed to the Cheney family, whose members included a Waterloo veteran.

The house is now private but viewable from outside. The peaceful village location makes it easy to walk around and observe the exterior architecture and surrounding grounds.

Sections of the building were demolished in 1950 due to wartime damage after American soldiers were stationed there during World War II. Architect C. E. Ogden later oversaw restoration work, retaining only the main structures.
