Grove Park, Historic urban park in Carshalton, England.
Grove Park is an urban park in Carshalton, in the London Borough of Sutton, arranged around the Lower Pond with pathways, grass areas, and open recreation spaces. It has a playground, an outdoor gym, a bowling green, a ball court, and a cafe.
The land was part of the Stone Court manor during medieval times and remained in private hands for centuries. In 1924, Carshalton Urban District Council bought it and opened it to the public.
The Leoni Bridge, made from Portland stone, crosses the Lower Pond and still carries visible stonework details from the early 18th century. Walking across it, you can see the proportions and carving style that were typical of that period.
The park is easy to walk through, with clear paths and the Lower Pond acting as a natural reference point for orientation. The facilities are spread across different areas, so a quick look around the entrance helps you plan where to go first.
Near the Stone Court corner of the park, a small water cascade was originally built to power a mill that once operated on the site. This feature shows how the land was put to practical use long before it became a place for leisure.
