Glenmore Forest Park

Glenmore Forest Park is an extensive woodland in the Cairngorms with ancient pine trees, mountain trails, and Loch Morlich, which features sandy beaches. The area combines forest with water and offers various opportunities for outdoor activities.

This woodland is one of the last remnants of the original Caledonian Forest that covered much of Scotland after the last ice age. The forest's structure and composition show how the Scottish landscape looked many centuries ago.

The native woodlands offer habitat for red squirrels, ospreys, and other rare birds that you can watch during your visit. Many people come here specifically to observe these animals in their natural setting.

The area is easily reached from Aviemore and has visitor centers with information about trails and activities. Most paths are well-marked, so you can explore them without extensive planning.

The woodland contains an unusual combination of mountain forest and a freshwater lake with a genuine sandy beach, which is rare in Scotland. This beach at Loch Morlich offers a surprising change from typical rocky mountain terrain.
