Guildford School of Acting, drama school forming part of the University of Surrey in Guildford, Surrey, England.
Guildford School of Acting is a performing arts training facility at the University of Surrey in England. It has 15 dance and rehearsal studios, 10 teaching rooms, three theatres of different sizes (the Bellairs Theatre with 190 seats, the Rex Doyle Studio with 80 seats, and a 128-seat theatre within the Performing Arts Technology Studios), and facilities for stage technology and production.
The school was founded in London in 1935 as the Grant-Bellairs School of Dance and Drama and moved to Guildford in 1945 during World War II. It was later renamed Guildford School of Acting and in 2009 became part of the University of Surrey in a purpose-built building.
The school is a place where creativity and collaboration happen every day and are visible to anyone walking through. Students work together, practice songs, and prepare costumes for upcoming performances.
The school is located in the north-east of Guildford and is easily accessible by public transport, particularly buses from the train station. Visitors can attend performances in the various theatres and should check opening hours and scheduling in advance.
The school has a Bellairs Theatre named after Beatrice Bellairs, one of the founders. The Rex Doyle Studio honours a notable graduate and actor who later became an important figure in the school's history.
