Holland House, Cardiff, Skyscraper hotel in Cardiff, United Kingdom
Holland House is a skyscraper in the Cardiff skyline with 15 floors and 165 guest rooms in a modern concrete frame structure. The building houses a hotel with an indoor pool, restaurant, and multiple meeting spaces.
The building opened in 1968 as an office block called Julian Hodge House for Lloyds TSB Bank. It was converted into a hotel in 2004 after substantial modifications.
The building gained recognition as a hospital location in the BBC series Torchwood. Fans of the science fiction show often recognize the facade when passing by.
The hotel is located on Newport Road with easy access from Cardiff city center. When visiting, note that as a business hotel it can get busy during peak hours, so plan accordingly.
The building underwent significant restructuring in 2003 when a two-story extension was removed. This modification gave the tower its current, more streamlined appearance.
