Kimbolton School, Independent school in Kimbolton, United Kingdom
Kimbolton School is an independent school in the village of Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire, comprising a historic castle and separate buildings for younger pupils. The site covers roughly 120 acres (49 ha) with a tree-lined path connecting the different areas of the campus.
The school was founded in 1600 and moved into the castle in 1950 after purchasing it from the Duke of Manchester. The relocation followed World War II when the estate was no longer used as an aristocratic residence.
The castle building serves as the teaching center and connects classrooms from several centuries with modern facilities for science and art. Students move daily between the old walls and newer pavilions, with the wide lawns and sports grounds shaping the school grounds.
The institution offers both day teaching and boarding places, with residential houses distributed along Kimbolton High Street. Visitors should note that this is an active educational facility and access to the grounds may be limited during school hours.
The castle itself holds Grade I listed status and displays architecture from the 17th and 18th centuries. The school name derives from the location, which in turn traces back to Old English roots connected to royal associations.
