Lady's Bridge, Medieval stone bridge in Sheffield, England

Lady's Bridge spans the River Don with five substantial arches, connecting the Wicker district to Waingate through a Grade II listed structure.

The original wooden crossing from 1150 was replaced in 1485 by a stone bridge commissioned by Vicar John Plesaunce for sixty-seven pounds.

The bridge received its name from a former chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary, which later transformed into a wool warehouse and an almshouse.

The structure underwent multiple expansions in 1760, 1864, and 1909 to accommodate increased traffic flow and support the introduction of trams.

During the Great Sheffield Flood of 1864, the bridge remained standing despite strong water forces that caused it to shake intensely.
