Llanarth Court, Grade II* listed country house in Llanarth, Wales.
Llanarth Court is a three-story country house with thirteen bays and classical decorative elements, redesigned in the 1850s with an Italianate architectural style. The building displays a carefully proportioned facade with ornamentation that preserves its original late 18th-century character.
The house was built around 1770 for John Jones and underwent extensive alterations between 1849 and 1851 by architects Edward Habershon and W.G. Habershon. These modifications significantly transformed its appearance and gave it the Italianate character it displays today.
The property transformed from a private residence to a Dominican school, then a Benedictine preparatory institution, before becoming a specialized mental health facility.
The building is now a specialized mental health facility and is not freely accessible to visitors. The surrounding grounds and property are of historical interest and worth noting for those curious about early landscape design and therapeutic spaces.
The surrounding parks and gardens are registered in the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens, showcasing design elements from the early 19th century. This recognized landscape composition integrates both historical and contemporary areas for therapeutic purposes.
