Lullingstone Country Park, Country park with ancient trees in Kent, England
Lullingstone Country Park is a country park in Kent, England, spanning roughly 460 acres of grassland and woodland areas. The landscape features more than 300 ancient trees, primarily oak, beech, ash, and hornbeam, distributed across the property.
Many of the trees date back to the medieval period, around 800 years old, giving the collection international recognition for its ecological and historical importance. The long survival of these ancient specimens reflects centuries of continuous management and preservation of the site.
The park functions as a Learning Destination for the Children's University, offering educational activities that draw school groups and families throughout the year. Visitors notice how the space is used for hands-on learning about nature and wildlife.
The park is accessible via the A225 road, and Eynsford train station is nearby with parking available on site. Wear sturdy footwear since paths can become muddy after rain, and plan your visit based on seasonal conditions for the best experience.
Sections of chalk grassland support multiple wild orchid species, creating seasonal flower displays from spring through summer. These specialized areas stand out from the wooded portions and offer surprising botanical variety across the grounds.
