Lumford Mill, Historic cotton mill in Hassop, England.
The stone mill structure stands along the River Wye, featuring large windows and industrial architecture from the late 18th century manufacturing period.
Richard Arkwright established Lumford Mill in 1777, developing it into a major cotton manufacturing site that employed 350 workers at its operational peak.
The mill represents the transformation of rural Derbyshire during the Industrial Revolution, when water-powered factories changed traditional manufacturing methods.
The former industrial complex now operates as Riverside Business Park, housing approximately 40 local enterprises within its restored historic structures.
The mill underwent technological evolution from an undershot wheel to high breast-shot wheels in 1827 and 1852, later transitioning to water turbines.
