Mendlesham transmitting station is a radio broadcasting facility in Suffolk with a 305 meter tall steel lattice mast. The structure broadcasts digital radio signals across a wide area of East Anglia.
The station was originally built in 1959 for television broadcasting and was Europe's tallest television mast at that time. It was later adapted for digital radio services.
The station serves as a key broadcasting hub for radio and entertainment services across the region. It connects communities through daily transmission of digital audio programs.
The station is visible from public areas but cannot be entered for visits. There is no direct public access to the facility itself.
The mast is stabilized by 15 steel cables attached at five different heights along its structure. These cables run downward in three directions to nine ground anchor blocks for stability.
