Millennium Mills, Former flour mill in Silvertown, London, England
Millennium Mills is a ten-story concrete structure from the early 1900s standing along the Royal Victoria Dock, retaining its tall chimneys and vast interior spaces. The building's empty halls and industrial loading bays reflect its former role as a grain processing facility.
The facility was built in 1905 and operated as a mill until the Royal Docks closed in the early 1980s. The dock's closure ended its productive period and left the structure empty ever since.
The building has served as a filming location for numerous television productions, films, and music videos over the decades, attracting creators drawn to its raw industrial appearance. This reputation has made it recognizable in British media and popular culture.
The site sits in Silvertown along the Thames and is reachable by public transport via the Underground. The building is currently undergoing renovation and cannot be entered, so visitors can only view it from outside.
The building takes its name from a flour brand that won a milling competition in 1899 and was later used as a product name. This link to late 19th-century baking industry achievement is rarely recognized today.
