MoD Kineton, Military ammunition depot in Warwickshire, England.
MoD Kineton is a military ammunition depot covering about 2200 acres between Kineton village and Temple Herdewyke. The facility contains extensive storage buildings and is served by a railway branch line from Fenny Compton to the main rail network.
The depot began operations in 1941 as a central ammunition facility and served as a transit camp for Polish and Czechoslovakian forces during World War II. It thus played a crucial role in Britain's military infrastructure during the war.
The base supports its own community with residential quarters at Temple Herdewyke and an information center called Kineton HIVE. Visitors can observe how military personnel and their families live together and what facilities serve daily life on-site.
Access is limited since it is an active military facility where visits are normally restricted to specific areas and scheduled times. Visitors should plan ahead and check the current security guidelines.
The facility stores a very substantial portion of Britain's defence supplies and is one of the largest ammunition storage locations in Western Europe. This role makes it a strategically important site in the European security landscape.
