Norwood Park

Norwood Park is a 13-hectare green space in West London situated on elevated ground that offers views of London landmarks from its pathways. The grounds include an outdoor gym area, concrete sports pitch, skatepark, and separate children's play zones.

This green space was established in 1911 after the London County Council acquired 33 acres of land that had been part of the medieval Great North Wood. The transformation of that former woodland into a public park reshaped the local area.

The park serves as a gathering place where residents meet and spend time together, from families using the play areas to young people at the sports facilities. The Country Walk section shows how the community cares for green spaces, with volunteers actively involved in maintaining the native plantings.

The park is easy to reach and can be entered from multiple directions on foot, with wide pathways suited for different activities. When visiting, be aware of the sloped terrain and wear suitable footwear as the pathways go up and down across the hills.

A dedicated section called The Green Mile serves as a training ground for Flatland BMX riders who practice their tricks on the flat surfaces there. This specialized sport zone regularly attracts riders from across the city.
