Mugdock Castle, Medieval castle ruins in Strathblane, Scotland
The remaining tower of Mugdock Castle stands within a 270-hectare country park, surrounded by woodland, moorland, and heathland near Milngavie.
The Graham family acquired Mugdock lands from the Earl of Lennox in the mid-13th century and constructed the castle as their stronghold.
The castle grounds include a terraced walled garden from the 1820s, reflecting the architectural and landscaping preferences of Scottish nobility.
The castle ruins are accessible through multiple walking trails within Mugdock Country Park, located 10 miles north of Glasgow.
During World War II, the government requisitioned the castle, and in 1945 Hugh Fraser purchased it before its transformation into a public park.
