Oare Windmill, 19th-century windmill in Faversham, England.
Oare Windmill is a brick structure in Faversham with a hooded cap made of tarred timber. The building no longer has its sweeps or fantail, but its original red brick walls remain intact.
The mill was built in the 1800s to process grain for the local area during a period of agricultural development. It gained Grade II listed status in 1950 to protect its historical value.
The structure shares the site with Mill Cottage and The Mill House, forming a small cluster that once supported the grain trade. Together, these buildings show how mills and homes were built close to support the same work.
The mill sits on Oare Road in Davington and can be viewed from the outside. As a protected structure, visitors should respect the building from a distance and not attempt any access to the interior.
Despite losing its sweeps and fantail long ago, the brick structure shows the durability of nineteenth-century craftsmanship in grain milling. Many visitors pass by without realizing this stripped building once played a vital role in feeding the local community.
