Nab Scar

Nab Scar is a 455-meter summit in the Lake District with a prominent cairn marking its peak and steep rocky faces along its southern ridge. The slopes feature grassy terrain mixed with exposed rock that defines the ascent.

This mountain gained recognition through Alfred Wainwright's detailed documentation in his Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells. His classification established it as a distinct summit worthy of independent attention.

This peak forms part of the Fairfield circuit, a popular loop that draws walkers seeking to visit multiple summits across the ridge. The route has become a favored challenge among hikers exploring the surrounding highlands.

The ascent starts well from Rydal village using a maintained path or from the White Moss car park along Dunney Beck. Good footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are essential since mountain conditions change rapidly.

Near the summit lies Dockey Tarn, one of the smallest named water bodies on British maps. This tiny pool often goes unnoticed despite being just steps from the main path.
