Northampton and Lamport Railway, Heritage railway in Church with Chapel Brampton, England
The Northampton and Lamport Railway is a heritage railway operating on a short stretch of track with vintage locomotives and period carriages. The line connects two stations and runs through the countryside with restored equipment from different eras.
The line closed to regular traffic in 1981 when British Rail withdrew services. A preservation group later revived the route and reopened it for passengers in 1995.
The railway maintains working signal boxes that show how train operations were once controlled by hand. Visitors can observe these control points and learn about the methods that kept trains running safely.
Trains run mainly on Sundays from spring through autumn, with extra services during the holiday season. Check ahead for the current schedule since days can vary depending on volunteer availability.
The booking office was constructed partly using materials salvaged from an original signal box. This allows the building to be converted back to its original purpose if desired in the future.
