The Nidderdale Museum occupies a former Victorian workhouse building, containing 30,000 exhibits distributed across thirteen exhibition rooms with historical settings.
Established in 1975 from a local history class project, the museum found its home in the 1863 Rural District Council offices building.
The museum preserves daily life elements through authentic displays, including a Victorian schoolroom, a mine tunnel, and a complete cobbler's workshop.
The museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM during summer months, while winter visits are limited to weekends.
The museum's collection grew through thousands of public donations, earning the National Heritage Museum of the Year Award in 1990.
