Port Lympne Mansion, English country house in Lympne, United Kingdom.

Port Lympne Mansion is an English country house in Lympne situated on a hill overlooking Romney Marsh and now functions as a four-star hotel. The ground floor reception rooms feature black and white marble floors, blue marble columns, and barrel-vaulted ceilings.

Sir Philip Sassoon commissioned architect Herbert Baker to build the house in 1914, drawing inspiration from architectural styles of the Cape region. The mansion subsequently attracted visits from various notable figures throughout the 20th century.

The Tent Room displays striped patterns and city scenes created by a renowned artist, while another artist decorated the drawing room with thematic murals. These spaces reflect the artistic tastes of those who owned the house.

The property sits on elevated ground, so visitors should expect some walking time, particularly if exploring the surrounding viewpoints. Sturdy shoes are recommended, and outdoor areas can become slippery in wet weather.

A natural spring water system pumps water upward through the property to maintain irrigation during summer months. This historic infrastructure demonstrates the sophisticated engineering considered when the house was designed.
