Quiggins, Alternative retail center in central Liverpool, United Kingdom
Quiggins was an indoor marketplace in central Liverpool that contained three connected warehouse buildings between School Lane, Peters Lane, and College Lane. The Palatine Building served as the main entrance to the complex, which housed more than fifty independent retailers and artists.
The marketplace opened in 1986 on Renshaw Street, taking its name from an architectural ironmongers business that had previously occupied the site. After the shop relocated to School Lane in 1988, the market continued operations until it closed in 2006.
The center served as a gathering place for independent shops, artist studios, and craft workshops where local creators displayed their work. The Brook Café hosted regular live music performances and alternative events that supported the creative community.
The marketplace was positioned next to the Bluecoat Centre in a busy pedestrian zone, making it easy to access. Visitors could explore numerous independent shops and studios in a connected indoor space before its closure in 2006.
The site hosted Fraggle Radio, an internet radio station focused on rock and punk music that broadcast from within the complex. This station played an important role in supporting Liverpool's underground music scene and gave artists a platform to share their work.
