Quiggins, Alternative retail center in central Liverpool, United Kingdom
Quiggins was an indoor marketplace in central Liverpool, housed across three connected warehouse buildings between School Lane, Peters Lane, and College Lane. The Palatine Building served as the main entrance to the complex, which held over fifty independent stalls and studios.
Quiggins opened in 1986 on Renshaw Street, taking its name from an architectural ironmongers that had previously occupied the site. It moved to School Lane in 1988 and kept trading there until it closed in 2006.
Quiggins was known for its mix of vintage clothing, record stalls, handmade accessories, and artist studios packed into narrow, dimly lit corridors. The Brook Café inside the complex hosted regular live music nights that drew people from Liverpool's creative scene.
Quiggins was located next to the Bluecoat Centre in a pedestrian area of central Liverpool, within easy walking distance of the main shopping streets. The building is now closed, but the surrounding lanes are still easy to walk through and worth a look.
Fraggle Radio, an internet radio station focused on rock and punk music, broadcast from inside the complex. It was one of the few outlets of its kind in Liverpool at the time and gave local artists a voice outside mainstream radio.
