Rock City, Music venue in Nottingham, England
Rock City contains six bars spread across three distinct rooms, including the Main Hall, Basement room, and Black Cherry Lounge, with a total capacity of 2000 people.
The building started as Alexandra Skating Rink in 1876, transformed into Victoria Halls in 1887, and became Rock City in December 1980, hosting The Undertones as its first performance.
The venue has featured performances by numerous influential musicians including David Bowie, Nirvana, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Guns N' Roses, The Cure, and Ed Sheeran.
The venue operates club nights from Thursday through Saturday, with special Wednesday events during academic terms, maintaining a strict entry policy for guests over 18 years old.
In January 2019, the venue replaced its original dance floor for the first time since its opening, marking four decades of continuous use under thousands of performances.
