Ritz Ballroom, Kings Heath, Music venue in Kings Heath, Birmingham, England
The Ritz Ballroom occupied a building on York Road, featuring a large dance floor and stage for live performances throughout the 1960s.
The Beatles performed at the Ritz Ballroom on February 15, 1963, shortly after releasing their first album Please Please Me.
Many international artists, including Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, and Jerry Lee Lewis, performed concerts at this Birmingham entertainment center.
The building underwent multiple transformations, from cinema to ballroom, then bingo hall, and finally a retail store before its destruction by fire in 2013.
The dance floor contained wood sections reportedly sourced from royal yachts, requiring temporary closure of Kings Heath High Street during installation.
