Ruskin Park

Ruskin Park is an expansive green area with varied zones including formal gardens, an oval pond where ducks live, and multiple walking routes throughout. The grounds contain dedicated spaces for tennis, basketball, football, and cricket activities.

This park opened to the public in 1907 following campaigns by local residents, with the original design created by Lt-Col JJ Sexby. The site underwent expansion later when adjacent land was incorporated into the grounds.

The bandstand in this park functions as a focal point where concerts and community celebrations take place regularly. Visitors can observe how local residents gather here throughout the year for cultural events and social activities.

The park is open daily from early morning until sunset, allowing visits at various times throughout the day. Sports facilities are available on-site, though checking ahead about booking or usage times is advisable.

A mansion that once occupied this land had connections to composer Felix Mendelssohn, who was active there in the 1840s. Although the building no longer stands, the place retains this artistic link in its past.
