Screech Owl Sanctuary

Screech Owl Sanctuary is a bird rescue and education center in Cornwall that houses more than 40 owl species from around the world. The facility features flight demonstrations, large enclosures, and specialized care areas throughout the grounds.

The center was established in 1990 on the edge of Goss Moor nature reserve and became one of the region's primary facilities for owl rehabilitation. Since its founding, it has focused on caring for injured and orphaned birds and building conservation programs.

The sanctuary conveys knowledge about owls and their behavior through hands-on experiences that help visitors develop a deeper understanding of these birds. By watching the animals in their natural behaviors, people gain appreciation for the role these predators play in woodland ecosystems.

The location sits beside a nature reserve and is accessible by foot, though driving is recommended to reach the site comfortably. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and plan time to see both the flying displays and explore the other animals on the grounds.

The facility is home not only to owls but also to emus, meerkats, alpacas, pygmy goats, and Shetland ponies, making it a diverse animal encounter destination. This unexpected mix of species gives visitors varied experiences across the grounds.
