Salem Chapel is a stone-rendered building in East Budleigh with a slate roof shaped by hipped sides. An attached assembly room with a basement extends the structure and served the congregation.

This chapel began in 1719 and received major changes in 1836 when extra galleries were added for a growing Presbyterian congregation. That expansion period marked a time of renewed religious interest across the country.
