St Fflewin's Church

St Fflewin's Church is a stone church in Llanfechell, Wales, featuring a western tower from the 16th century and a spire added in the 18th century. The building retains sections of its original 12th-century nave and chancel.

The church is documented from at least the 13th century, when it appeared in the Norwich Taxation records. Subsequent renovations, particularly during the 19th century, helped preserve and adapt the structure for continued use.

The church is dedicated to Saint Fflewin, a 6th-century Christian missionary whose veneration shaped the religious identity of this area. The saint's presence in local tradition continues to define the spiritual character of the place.

The building is Grade II listed and accessible to visitors during daylight hours when the interior details are most visible. Visitors should note that it remains an active church, so entry may be restricted during services.

Inside the church, a fragment of a medieval gravestone is built into a window sill, serving as a tangible link to past burials at the site. A nine-sided font from the 14th or 15th century also sits within, showcasing the craftsmanship of its era.
