St. Nicolas' Church, North Stoneham, Grade II* listed church in North Stoneham, England.
St. Nicolas Church is a stone church building in Gothic Revival style with a tower featuring double bell-openings and reinforced by stepped buttresses. The roof ends on the east side with three gabled sections, while the outer walls are built from finely cut stone blocks.
The structure was rebuilt around 1600 following an earlier building from the 13th century, and later underwent major redesign in the early 1800s by a renowned architect. These changes reflected the evolving needs and style preferences of their time.
Inside the church are memorial stones for important people from the past, including military leaders and merchants from distant lands. These memorials tell the story of people who mattered to this community.
The church is located in North Stoneham and easy to reach, with access from Stoneham Lane. Visitors can find information about regular services and community activities when they arrive.
The tower holds a clock made in the early 17th century by a local craftsman that shows only the hours with a single hand. This rare design choice makes it a curious detail from that earlier period.
