Torry Battery, Military battery at Aberdeen Harbor, Scotland.
The stone fortification stands on a coastal elevation, featuring gun platforms and barracks that overlook the North Sea entrance to Aberdeen Harbor.
Built between 1857 and 1861, Torry Battery replaced an earlier defensive structure and mounted nine heavy artillery pieces for coastal protection.
The battery served as temporary housing for twenty families between 1946 and 1953, creating a residential community within its military walls.
Visitors can access the battery grounds throughout the year to observe the harbor activities and watch for dolphins in the adjacent waters.
During World War II, local residents brought fish and chips to soldiers stationed at the battery, demonstrating the connection between military personnel and civilians.
