Temple Druid, Grade II listed building in Maenclochog, Great Britain
Temple Druid is a square country house in Maenclochog designed by John Nash in 1795, retaining features from its original construction. The property includes associated farm buildings and several listed cottages on the grounds.
Originally named Bwlch-y-Clawdd, the house was built in 1795 and became home to Henry Bulkeley from 1806 to 1821. After his time there, the building underwent partial dismantling and alterations.
The site includes notable farm buildings with Grade II* status and three Grade II listed cottages, representing different levels of architectural protection.
The house sits on a hill about one kilometer east of Maenclochog village in west Wales. The location is rather remote, so it is worth checking access details before visiting.
An ancient stone monument called a cromlech once stood on this site, featuring a large round stone balanced on three pillars before it was destroyed around 1800. This older structure marks a much earlier chapter in the location's past, long before the house was built.
