Town Walls Tower, Medieval watchtower in Shrewsbury, England
Town Walls Tower stands 9 meters tall with original arrow slits, wooden floors, and exposed stone walls constructed from sandstone blocks measuring 1.8 meters thick.
The tower was built between 1220 and 1242 during King Henry III's reign as part of Shrewsbury's defenses following attacks from Welsh forces in 1215.
The National Trust maintains this structure, which represents medieval military architecture and serves as a testament to England's border defense systems.
Visitors can explore the four-story tower through guided tours on select days, with public parking available in central Shrewsbury.
The structure transforms into a holiday cottage for two people, featuring a copper roll-top bath and a kitchen with views across the River Severn.
