The Longstone, Mottistone, Long barrow in Mottistone, Isle of Wight, England

The Longstone consists of two sandstone pieces, with the larger stone standing at 3.9 meters and a smaller one resting at its base.

Archaeological excavations in 1956 revealed pottery fragments that date the burial mound and stones to the Neolithic period, approximately 6000 years ago.

The site serves as a gathering location for contemporary druids who conduct ceremonies during solstices and equinoxes throughout the year.

Access to the archaeological site requires following a marked footpath from the free parking area on Strawberry Lane near Mottistone village.

The stones received their name from Saxon times, as Mottistone translates to 'the Speaker's stone' or 'the pleader's stone' in Old English.
