Threave Gardens, Educational garden in Castle Douglas, Scotland

The garden extends across 64 acres of land, featuring a walled garden, rock gardens, ponds, and multiple water elements throughout the property.

William Gordon established the estate in 1867, developing the Scottish Baronial style Threave House and surrounding gardens as a private residence.

The School of Heritage Gardening, established in 1960, trains professional horticulturists through practical experience in maintaining the diverse garden collections.

Visitors can access the gardens daily from 10:00 to 16:00, with an entrance fee of £8.50 for adults and £23.00 for families.

The estate functions as a nature reserve within Scotland's Special Protection Area, providing habitats for eight bat species and numerous bird species.
