The Old Bakery, Manor Mill & Forge, Historical industrial structures in Branscombe, England.

The Old Bakery, Manor Mill and Forge consist of three preserved buildings in a Devon village that showcase different craft activities: baking, grain processing, and blacksmithing. Each structure retains original equipment and allows visitors to understand the practical side of these traditional trades.

These buildings document craft practices that rural communities carried out for generations before industrial methods replaced them. Their preservation shows the shift from traditional to modern production methods during the 20th century.

The forge displays craft traditions that were essential to rural village life and shows how people worked with their hands to meet everyday needs. The bakery and mill reveal the trades that shaped how communities fed themselves.

The site sits in a village with limited public transport, so arriving by car or hiking from nearby locations works well. The buildings are connected by a simple path and can be visited comfortably with normal mobility.

The forge is the only remaining thatched blacksmith building in all of England and represents a rare architectural form. The water wheel at Manor Mill still operates using traditional methods and grinds grain into flour just as it has for centuries.
