Westburn Park, Urban park in Aberdeen, Scotland
Westburn Park is an urban green space spanning approximately 10 hectares with two ponds, a stream running through it, and scattered woodland. Multiple sports facilities are located throughout the grounds, including tennis courts and bowling greens that serve both casual visitors and organized players.
The park was established in 1901 as a recreational space for the city. A Victorian mansion on the grounds, built in 1839 by architect Archibald Simpson, remains a notable feature of the site.
The bowling greens here draw players from around the area who gather regularly for matches and friendly competition. It serves as a social hub where different generations meet to enjoy lawn bowling, a sport that has long roots in Scottish communities.
The park has multiple tennis courts available for play, with both indoor and outdoor options to suit different weather conditions. The grounds are accessible and feature walking paths throughout, making it easy to explore the various areas and facilities.
A dedicated cycling track with mini roads and traffic signs teaches children about road safety through hands-on learning. This educational feature is tucked away within the park and offers a practical way for young visitors to build confidence on bicycles.
