Wensleydale Railway, Heritage railway in North Yorkshire, England
The Wensleydale Railway spans 22 miles between Northallerton West and Redmire, crossing the rural landscape of Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The railway line originated in 1846 with the Northallerton to Bedale connection, later extending through various railway companies until reaching Garsdale.
The railway preserves transportation heritage through restored stations, period-accurate exhibits, and educational programs about 1900s railway operations.
Regular passenger services operate between Leeming Bar and Redmire, with direct access from Junction 51 on the A1 motorway.
The Ministry of Defence supported track restoration from Redmire to Northallerton in exchange for transporting armored vehicles to Catterick Garrison.
