Woodhouse Moor, Public park in university district, Leeds, England
The 26-hectare green space contains five connected walking paths, formal gardens, allotments, and recreational areas divided by tree-lined avenues.
Leeds Corporation acquired Woodhouse Moor for £3,000 in 1857, establishing it as the first public park in the city of Leeds.
The annual Unity Day festival in July brings together local residents through music, art, sports, dance, and food celebrations.
Five main paths intersect at the center of the park, creating distinct sections for different activities including a skate park and tennis courts.
In 1858, Queen Victoria visited the park to hear 26,000 Sunday School children sing hymns in a coordinated performance.
