Witton Country Park, Country park in Blackburn with Darwen, England.
Witton Country Park is a large park with woodlands, open meadows, and a river area spread across its grounds in the Blackburn with Darwen area. Walking paths connect the different natural zones and allow movement through the various landscape types.
The land was originally part of the Feilden family estate, with Witton House built around 1800 and demolished in 1952 after wartime military use. The transformation from private estate to public park happened after the house was removed.
The park serves as a gathering place where locals enjoy outdoor activities and community events throughout the year. Visitors can observe how people use the grounds for exercise, leisure, and social gatherings across all seasons.
The park can be reached from Preston Old Road A674, which provides parking for visitors arriving by car. Those using public transport can reach the area via Cherry Tree railway station or bus route 152.
Several outbuildings from the original Witton House still stand on the grounds and were converted to visitor facilities during the 1970s renovations. These structures offer a physical connection to the site's previous life as a private estate.
