Norsey Wood, Nature reserve and ancient woodland in Billericay, England
Norsey Wood encompasses 67 hectares of oak and sweet chestnut trees, featuring four ponds that support diverse plant and animal species.
The woodland contains archaeological remains from multiple periods, including a Bronze Age barrow and the site of the 1381 Battle of Billericay.
The Norsey Wood Society, established in 1977, organizes educational walks and conservation activities for the local community throughout the year.
The reserve provides multiple access points from Outwood Common Road, Break Egg Hill, Norsey Close, Deerbank, and Norsey Road, with dedicated parking facilities.
Nine species of dragonfly inhabit the woodland's northern ponds, where rare water violet and bog-bean plants grow in specific locations.
