New Brighton is a seaside resort at the northeastern tip of the Wirral Peninsula in England. The sandy beach runs for roughly 1.2 kilometers (0.75 miles) and overlooks Liverpool across the Mersey estuary.
James Atherton purchased land at Rock Point in 1830 to create a residential area modeled after Brighton. Over the following decades, the area grew into a popular holiday destination for visitors from Liverpool and beyond.
The Black Pearl stands as a community-built driftwood boat on the beach, functioning as both an art installation and a children's play structure.
The beach is within easy walking distance from the center, and surrounding streets offer free parking options. The railway station connects the resort directly to Liverpool, with the journey taking around 25 minutes.
Fort Perch Rock was built between 1825 and 1829 as a coastal defense structure and stood cut off from the mainland during high tide. Visitors can now reach the fort on foot at any tidal stage.
