Regent Mill, Failsworth, Cotton mill in Failsworth, England

Regent Mill is a four-story spinning factory in Failsworth featuring a water tower with a pyramidal roof at its northwest corner. The red brick building stretches across roughly 42 bays and displays the typical industrial architecture of early 20th-century textile mills with large windows to light the work spaces.

The building was constructed in 1906 and housed powerful machinery that spun thread for textile production on a large scale. It operated as a major manufacturing center during the early industrial period before eventually transitioning to office use.

The mill represents the industrial shift that transformed the area when textile factories replaced farmland as the region's livelihood. Walking through it today, you can sense how important this type of work was to people's daily lives.

The building now serves as office space and is best viewed from the street to appreciate its exterior design and structure. The Grade II listing means it has been protected from demolition and major alterations over time.

The mill operated with a twin tandem compound engine, an advanced mechanical system that was typical of the largest operations in the region at the time. Few visitors realize how sophisticated the engineering inside these mills actually was.
