The Flixton Road Mill stands with six stories and features a boat-shaped cap, displaying traditional tower mill architecture from the 1800s.
Built in 1830, the mill operated until 1918 when a lightning strike caused damage, leading to the removal of one floor and its conversion.
Frederick Robert Burtsal managed the mill from 1868 to 1874, representing the traditional role of millers in Suffolk's agricultural communities.
The mill contained four Patent sails and three pairs of millstones, with an auxiliary engine providing additional power through an external drive belt.
The mill includes a stage at the second floor level, which served as an operational platform for managing the wind-powered grinding mechanisms.
